Zhigang Wang

Dr. Wang is a Principal Scientist at Celgene Avilomics Research in Bedford, MA. He received his Bachelor’s degree in chemistry and Master’s degree in biochemistry from Tsinghua University in 1986 and 1989, respectively, and his Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from University of Minnesota in 1994. He was an NIH postdoctoral fellow in Professor Stephen Benkovic’s laboratory at the Pennsylvania State University from late 1994 to the summer of 1999. He then started his career in the pharmaceutical industry at the Pharmacia & Upjohn Company and continued after Pharmacia was acquired by Pfizer in 2003. He took his current role to lead biochemical assay efforts at Celgene Avilomics Research in early 2011. An expert in assay development, enzyme kinetics, mechanistic enzymology, and biophysics, Dr. Wang has led and/or participated in multiple drug discovery projects in a variety of therapeutic areas including infectious diseases, central nervous system disorders, cardiovascular diseases, pain, oncology, and inflammation/immunology therapeutic areas.
